Gaming on Apple Vision Pro could see huge growth soon, per game makers (9to5mac)
As published by GamesBeat, a recent Game Developers Conference survey sought to gauge engagement from developers with Apple’s new spatial computing platform.
The data points to big growth coming soon. Here’s what it says:
Although only 8% of VR/AR developers are currently making games for Apple vision OS, the platform looks to be growing its foothold. Almost one-fifth (18%) of respondents say their next games will be on the platform, and one-fourth are interested in Apple’s VR headset.
These three data points are all interesting in their own ways.
Apple's Newest Store Has A Dedicated Vision Pro Side Room (source)
Apple's newest store opened today, in Miami, and it has a dedicated side room for Vision Pro demos and purchases.
Apple Miami Worldcenter is located in downtown Miami, and is the sixth official Apple Store in the city. Its opening comes just under one year after the launch of Apple Vision Pro.
That Apple would include a dedicated side area just for Vision Pro suggests that the popular perception of the company's sentiment on it cooling is mistaken.
Back in October, The Information reported that Apple was considering stopping production of Vision Pro by the end of the year. This was widely falsely reported as Apple discontinuing the headset, fueling the popular narrative that it had "failed" or was "a flop".
Apple’s next immersive Vision Pro film involves bull riding and arrives soon (source)
Man Vs. Beast video takes Vision Pro users to the rodeo
Man Vs. Beast is a 10-minute short film coming to Vision Pro next week, per the Apple TV app.
The new Immersive Video will debut on Friday, January 31 and transport viewers into the wild world of the rodeo.
Here’s Apple’s description:
Hang on tight as professional bull riders take you inside the rodeo and show you what it takes to compete in the dangerous sport.
Over the last few months, Apple has gotten in a pattern of releasing 1-2 new Immersive Videos per month to Vision Pro users. These have ranged in subject and genre, with everything from an immersive concert, scripted short film, music video, sports content, and more.
iOS 19 leak reveals overhauled camera interface influenced by Vision Pro (source)
The new-look interface features translucent menus for camera controls, making space for a larger viewfinder. At the bottom of the screen are two options — camera and video — and tapping each one brings up options for different settings, such as aspect ratio, depth, styles, exposure, timers and more. Resolution and frame rate settings, meanwhile, are hidden away at the top of the screen.
For comparison, you can see the Vision Pro interface in our video below.
Samsung's VR Headset Looks a Lot Like Apple Vision Pro (source)
Samsung is developing the headset in collaboration with Google, and it will run Google's Android XR operating system. Google introduced Android XR late last year. Android XR and Samsung's headset will support being immersed in a virtual environment or staying present in the real world, similar to how Apple allows Apple Vision Pro users to adjust the Vision Pro immersion level by activating or shutting out the real world passthrough view provided by cameras.
The Vision Pro Lends a Hand to the STRUTT Personal Mobility Device (source)
YouTuber Two F Zero T has a first look at the STRUTT ev¹, a personal mobility device that was shown off at CES and can be controlled with the Vision Pro. The video, which I first saw linked by Apple’s Mike Stern on Mastodon, demonstrates the impressive tech packed into the STRUTT ev¹, including a unique integration with the Vision Pro. Thanks to Apple’s headset, users can navigate their surroundings with the Vision Pro’s eye and head tracking.

Apple invents another Adjustable Headband System for Future Vision-Pro Headsets (source)
Apple notes in their patent application that in some embodiments, it may be desirable to incorporate headbands that can contact the user's head in multiple locations while the head-mounted device is worn. The headbands may include a lower headband that is in contact with a portion of the back of the user's head and an upper headband. The upper and/or lower headbands may be adjustable.
For example, the upper and/or lower headbands may pivot so that the upper and lower headbands can contact different portions of the user's head. In an illustrative example, the lower headband may contact a lower rear portion of the user's head, while the upper headband is movable between a front portion of the user's head (e.g., the user's forehead) and an upper rear portion of the user's head. To allow the upper and/or lower headbands to be adjusted in this way, the headbands may be attached to a head-mounted support structure via a pivoting structure, such as a friction hinge.
