Apple Immersive Video Orangutans released on Vision Pro (source)
If you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend the new Apple Immersive Video Orangutans on Vision Pro. You see them up close like never before. It made me think about how immersive video lets us experience animals without needing zoos, which could lead to fewer in captivity.
First-ever Blackmagic URSA Cine footage from paradise - French Polynesia in 8K per eye (source)
In the last year Explore POV has grown to 75,000 explorers on Vision Pro with 110 videos across 19 countries… but today feels like a whole new beginning.
We were recently one of the first in the world to get our hands on the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive - Apple’s 8K per eye camera - and we’ve already taken it to some jaw dropping places.
First stop: French Polynesia. Because groundbreaking tech deserves breathtaking locations.

Future Apple Vision Pro could take commands by just reading your lips (source)
This is an extension of the existing AirPods Pro feature where a user can shake their head to cancel a call, or nod to accept it. In that case, the idea is that you can shake your head if you're somewhere that you can't speak, or nod if you can talk but your hands are full.
Now in a newly-revealed patent application called "Electronic Device With Dictation Structure," Apple wants you to be able to dictate even if you can't really speak.
AirPods could vibrate your head when you type on Apple Vision Pro in the future (source)
The patent, dubbed "Input device for head-mountable devices," describes using unreleased earbuds to generate a haptic output. That output would be dictated by a signal from a head-mounted device, such as Apple's spatial computer.
While the patent doesn't mention AirPods by name, it's easy to see where Apple is going here.
"An earbud includes a housing, a haptic driver carried by the housing, a haptic surface defined by the housing, and an input surface defined by the housing," the typically dense patent reads.
Why Surgeons Are Wearing The Apple Vision Pro In Operating Rooms (Time)
Twenty-four years ago, the surgeon Santiago Horgan performed the first robotically assisted gastric-bypass surgery in the world, a major medical breakthrough. Now Horgan is working with a new tool that he argues could be even more transformative in operating rooms: the Apple Vision Pro.
Over the last month, Horgan and other surgeons at the University of California, San Diego have performed more than 20 minimally invasive operations while wearing Apple’s mixed-reality headsets. Apple released the headsets to the public in February, and they’ve largely been a commercial flop. But practitioners in some industries, including architecture and medicine, have been testing how they might serve particular needs.

Why Apple's Vision Pro Finally Has the Content Library It Deserves (source)
What makes Apple Immersive Video actually different this time?
Let's break down what Apple has been building while everyone complained about the lack of Netflix and YouTube apps. Apple Immersive Video delivers 180-degree stereoscopic video at 90 frames per second with approximately 5x more pixels than standard video, 3x the frame rate, then doubled because it's stereoscopic. The result? Data rates around 30x higher than typical 4K production.
Here's the thing: those specs aren't just numbers on a spreadsheet. The Vision Pro's displays pack 54 pixels into the space of a single iPhone 16 pixel, creating what's essentially the highest pixel density of any OLED display ever made. When you combine that display technology with immersive content that was actually designed for it, the difference is immediately apparent.
