Apple Is Splitting The visionOS Team From The Vision Hardware Team (source)
Apple is moving the visionOS team out of the Vision Products Group, with the VP who founded it, as part of a shake-up to get Siri back on track.
The Vision Products Group (VPG) is the division within Apple responsible for Apple Vision Pro and visionOS. It was founded in 2015 by Mike Rockwell, a former Dolby executive, and originally known as the Technology Development Group (TDG) until the reveal of Vision Pro in 2023.
…
As for the Vision hardware teams he's leaving behind, Rockwell will reportedly be replaced by Paul Meade, currently the Vision Products Group's head of hardware engineering.

Vision Pro Diary: Delightful experiences I’ve had in visionOS so far (source)
Navigating a new area in Apple Maps
Vision Pro was the absolute best way to explore our new neighborhood in advance. It brought me so much joy to use Look Around in visionOS with a massive app window.
As I browsed the area, I saved restaurants, coffee shops, and other spots to try out after moving. It was a great way to prep for the move, and I see myself doing this a lot more in the future.
Funnily enough, Apple Maps in visionOS isn’t even a native app. It’s an iPad app running in compatibility mode. But the immersive experience Vision Pro provided was still unique.

It showcases how independent filmmakers can use this new medium to tell compelling, visually stunning 3D stories.
This project was 100% self-funded with the support of our amazing patrons and created out of love for the Vision Pro community. If you’re passionate about spatial storytelling, I’d love for you to check it out and share your thoughts!

Palmer Luckey discusses Apple's Vision Pro, noting its high standard and niche market (source)
The Oculus founder and Anduril CEO shared his analysis of Apple's foray into mixed-reality headsets during an episode of the "What's News" podcast. Luckey said he's been "consistent" in his stance on the future of the pricey device since before it launched.
"I was telling people, 'Listen, you have to realize that what Apple's doing here is not trying to, with their first release, try to make something that is for everybody,'" Luckey said.
Instead, he said, Apple is "trying to set a very high standard" with the $3,500 mixed reality headset.

Smartglasses patent from Apple reveals the addition of Electronic Ports (source)
Today the U.S. Patent Office published a patent application of Apple's that relates to future smartglasses. In this patent, Apple describes side securement arms that could include a power port and/or data port positioned at a distal end or tip of the securement arm behind a user's ear.
In Apple's patent background they note that various components of head-mountable electronic devices, such as display screens, viewing frames, securement arms, speakers, batteries, waveguides, and other components, operate together to provide an immersive and comfortable experience. Operation of these devices could require a connector for an external attachment. This attachment could be used for various purposes, such as for charging the device and any other purpose for the benefit of the user.

Vibescape – an app that helps you wind down in beautifully designed immersive environments (source)
Last night, I had trouble falling asleep, so I tried out “Vibescape” on Vision Pro – an app that helps you wind down in beautifully designed immersive environments that come surprisingly close to Apple’s own.
Immersive Environments are still one of the coolest features of Vision Pro. Watching your real surroundings gradually blend into virtual worlds is just so visually satisfying 😍
You can choose a soundscape or meditation track and then completely drift off into another world. For me, it actually worked — I slept like a baby.
Custom hover effects in visionOS keep the UI clean and minimal while seamlessly revealing extra details when needed. A perfect balance of simplicity and functionality!
