Apple has released a new video for the Apple Vision Pro Spatial Video feature, in an ad spot to celebrate Mother's Day.
Introduced to the official Apple YouTube channel on Thursday, the video "A Gift for Mom" follows the reception of a video gift between a couple. The video, edited by a man called Sam and played to partner Khulan, covers the first year of the life of their newborn son.
The videos can then be watched on an Apple Vision Pro headset, complete with the depth effect.
What An Apple Vision Pro Developer Learned Hiking 70 Miles Outdoors In Headset (source)
Contacting me initially via Bluesky, and asking to be identified by his first name Sean, the developer lists themselves as Industrial Volumetrics on the Apple App Store. In headset, the dev showed me inside the file system on his Mac where I watched intriguing videos, including one showing a virtual fishing pole near the physical ocean, another with a wrist-based virtual compass, and a time lapse of a hike up a mountain wearing the Vision Pro.

Apple Vision Pro immersive video library management utility arrives for Mac (source)
Apple has just released a new utility for Mac users to help manage their immersive video libraries with direct connectivity to Apple Vision Pro.
the Apple Immersive Video Utility app continues Apple's efforts to support its large-format immersive spatial video efforts. According to the app description, users can import and manage their immersive video files, create playlists, sort, organize, search, and share them as well.
Half the Size & Half the Price is What Vision Pro Needs to Take Off (source)
Apple has set the bar for UX on a standalone headset. As soon as the company can get the same experience into a smaller and cheaper package, it’s going to become significantly more appealing to a wider range of people.
Apple has billed Vision Pro as “tomorrow’s technology, today.” And frankly, that feels pretty accurate if we’re talking about the headset’s core user experience, which is far beyond other products on the market. Vision Pro is simple and intuitive to use. It might not do as much as a headset like Quest, but what it does do, it does extremely well. But it’s still undeniably big, bulky, and expensive… my recommendation is that it’s not worth buying for most people.

Future Magic Mouse could detect gestures in the air like Apple Vision Pro (source)
When Apple introduced its Magic Mouse back in 2009, it featured multi-touch gestures. Since then it's been redesigned, and there have been rumors of a further redesign.
Those rumors, though, have concentrated on the recurring issue that the USB-C charging port is on the bottom. There hadn't been any idea that Apple has been looking at anything else, certainly not at adding more gestures to it.
But a newly-granted patent called "Electronic devices with extended input-output capabilities," that is exactly what Apple has been doing. Only, alongside taps and swipes, the whole idea is literally about gestures alongside the mouse.
I watched an immersive 8K movie on the Apple Vision Pro, now I’m completely hooked (source)
When I slipped on the Apple Vision Pro for the first time, I was sitting in the middle of a cafe with immersive filmmaker Charlotte Mikkelborg. But within seconds, I was no longer in a cafe; I was transported to the Arctic.
The landscape stretched out before me, the wind howled around my ears, and I was blinking away snowflakes that seemed to blow into my eyes. That’s when I realized that immersive storytelling isn’t just a cool tech demo any more – it’s the next frontier in how we experience entertainment.
I was shown Adventure, and the experience was unlike anything I’ve previously encountered. The Apple Vision Pro’s 180° field of view and stunning 8K visuals (yes, that’s 8K in each eye!) make you feel like you’re inside the action.

Apple reveals a new Face Sensor System for a future Vision Pro headset to ensure maximum fit on a user’s face (source)
Some Apple Vision Pro users have experienced discomfort when wearing the device for extended periods, including eye strain, headaches, and neck pain. These issues can arise from the device's weight and fit, as well as the intensity of the visual display. Once the discomfort issues were aired out, Apple’s engineers went into high gear to find ways to remedy them so as to improve Vision Pro 2 (or whatever they call their next HMD). While there have been many patents on this subject matter to date, here are just a few of them: 01, 02, 03 and 04.
Yesterday the U.S. Patent Office published a patent application of Apple's that relates to another aspect of making future HMD’s more comfortable and more importantly, aligning properly on a user’s head to ensure that the eye tracking system can be accurate at all times.

We just launched the VisionOS Professionals Survey 2025!
Hey Vision Pro community 👋
Almost two years after the Vision Pro announcement, it feels like the right time to take a step back and get a better sense of where the visionOS ecosystem stands — what’s working, what’s challenging, and where things are headed.
We’re a group of independent visionOS experts, and our goal is simple: collect honest feedback from developers and designers, and share those insights with the whole community before WWDC25.
