Vision Pro M5 review: It’s time for Apple to make some tough choices (source)
With the recent releases of visionOS 26 and newly refreshed Vision Pro hardware, it’s an ideal time to check in on Apple’s Vision Pro headset—a device I was simultaneously amazed and disappointed by when it launched in early 2024.
I still like the Vision Pro, but I can tell it’s hanging on by a thread. Content is light, developer support is tepid, and while Apple has taken action to improve both, it’s not enough, and I’m concerned it might be too late.
When I got a Vision Pro, I used it a lot: I watched movies on planes and in hotel rooms, I walked around my house placing application windows and testing out weird new ways of working. I tried all the neat games and educational apps, and I watched all the immersive videos I could get ahold of. I even tried my hand at developing my own applications for it.
Apple gave Vision Pro two big, very needed upgrades recently (source)
Personas launched in beta when the Vision Pro first debuted, and it was easily one of the most criticized features. Apple’s first attempt at Personas was a technical marvel in some ways, but for many it felt too close to the uncanny valley.
visionOS 26, however, graduated the feature out of beta and was a remarkably lifelike upgrade.
To understand how good Personas are now, I highly recommend Brian Tong’s video below.
Does the Vision Pro have a home in the enterprise? (source)
A decade ago, Google “retired” its first attempt at augmented reality — sort of. (Google Glass remained available for the enterprise sector, despite a less than flattering image in the public consciousness, until just two years ago.)
In a similar vein, Microsoft eventually aimed its ambitions for the HoloLens in the same direction, before canceling it outright.
And then there’s Apple and its pricey Vision Pro headset. The company courted the enterprise market early with dedicated sessions for its visionOS at the very first WWDC after its introduction, and with MDM support in the first major update to the platform.
[Tested] Apple Vision Pro with M5 Chip: Front-Row Concerts and a Journey to Jupiter from Your Living Room (source)
I found myself standing in the middle of a snow-covered field. Snowy mountains stretched out in all directions, everything blanketed in white. The scene was so vivid that I almost felt the chill in the air. In reality, though, I was seated at a cafe near Gwanghwamun in Seoul. The snowy landscape was a virtual space created by the Apple Vision Pro, an extended reality (XR) device worn on my head. Ahead of its domestic release on November 28, I had the chance to experience the new Vision Pro firsthand, and its realism was impressive enough to make me think, “This is really possible.” This is thanks to the upgrade with the next-generation M5 semiconductor chip.

Asobi: Remote Play for Playstation (source)
So about a year ago I said I would develop my own version of Playstation Remote Play for Vision Pro, and with all good plans you always get to the point that live tends to intervene in interesting ways. But recently some time finally opened up so I could finally finish it.. So promises made, promises kept... Just wish It was a bit sooner than later.
Today I’m proud to share version 1.0 of Asobi: Remote Play for PlayStation.
(Big update coming next week with more features)It’s a dedicated app for Playstation Remote play, that has all the features you’d want. From perfect 60FPS HDR, low latency, the AWDL fix, frame generation up to 120fps (makes it super smooth), upscaling to 4k and of course a Giant immersive screen which you can drag and zoom and adjusts it’s curvature to it’s distance from you with passthrough tinting and many many more features in place and coming soon
Moonlight XrOS 11.0.17 is Out! (source)
Hey everyone wanted to follow up saying that a lot of the reported bugs are now fixed! (I posted a new thread since for some reason my original post got removed)
Get the app here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/poWcaME5
IMPORTANT UPGRADE NOTE:
If you are coming from an older version (pre-11.0.15), please Uninstall and Reinstall the app via TestFlight. There are significant code changes regarding settings and localization that may cause crashes if you simply update over the old version.
I RECOMEND USING APOLLO OVER SUNSHINE
I tests all builds using Apollo. Apollo is a Sunshine fork called [Apollo](https://github.com/ClassicOldSong/Apollo) which on Windows supports a Built-in Virtual Display with HDR support that matches the resolution/framerate config of your client automatically.

The future of education is spatial and it’s taking off.
Use gaussian splats to add depth to your photos (source)
Lisa is a new app on Vision Pro that uses Gaussian splats to add depth to your photos.
It’s not perfect, but you can see where this is going. Flat photos become 3D moments you can relive.
Spatial Rifts on Vision Pro (source)
Spatial Rifts on Vision Pro is a lot of fun.
Mixed reality action right in your room. Close portals. Take down enemies. PS VR2 Sense controllers feel great.
I’m playing solo in this clip, though it also features co-op in the same space. Surprised how much I enjoyed it.
The Vision Pro Game of the Year finalist “Fishing Haven” (source)
Sometimes, when things get a bit too stressful, it’s nice to take a break and escape to a peaceful lake in the mountains.
The Vision Pro Game of the Year finalist “Fishing Haven” kind of makes that possible within seconds.
You can catch all kinds of fish in beautiful environments across the globe. I really enjoyed exploring these places, even if it did get a little frustrating at times… turns out I’m not exactly a pro at catching fish
FunFitLand demo for AVP (source)
FunFitLand for AVP is such a blast! Those gloves are pretty good, and I’m a big fan of the Africa Savannah theme. Of course, I didn’t see any animals during my workout 😃. It’s now compatible with PSVR 2 controllers.Keep up the awesome work, team! @joinfunfitland
